Rip-Zip

Version 1.1 2002

What is it?

Rip-Zip is a file zipping and un-zipping utility.  I wrote it for my own personal use, I deal with a lot of zip files it seems.  It was sometimes cumbersome to open 30 or 40 separate zip files and extract the contents individually, so I wrote the program such that it will operate on several files in succession without having to manually open each one.  Then I thought it might be nice to have the program do the opposite operation - create several separate zip files from a list of files.  It's not as sophisticated as WinZip or Power Archiver, but it's free.

Program Requirements

Download

RipZipArch.exe - 3.1 Mb.  This is self-extracting archive.  Run this program, it will prompt for a location to store the compressed files.  After un-zipping, run RipZip.exe to begin installation.

Tutorials

This is a very short description on how to use the program.  More details can be found in the help files.

Rip-Zip was originally going to be a shareware/licensed program.  But, I never got that far in the development process and I'm too lazy to develop the code further.  If you would like your name to show up as being registered, I have left the following 'back-door' process to license the program (and prevent the randomly timed popup reminder about registering):

Choose the Register menu item, fill in your name and use anything for the serial number.  You'll get an error saying Invalid Registration code (unless you're extremely lucky and type in the correct combination of characters).

Repeat this 10 times.  On the 10th iteration, you'll be registered.  The register menu item will no longer be available, and your name will show up as the licensee in the About Box.

An alternative is to use this name and serial number:

Name: Grateful Zip User
Serial: 5314070751110265
